Cllr Dr James Davies, Chairman says:

"Following Prestatyn's success in winning the Wales and Britain in Bloom competitions in recent years, we are once again entering Wales in Bloom this year. Judging will take place on the morning of Friday 10th July.

"Entering In Bloom is rewarding, as it provides a focus which brings everyone together to drive up standards of public areas right across the community. It's about far more than flowers; we have to showcase our heritage, biodiversity, recycling efforts, signage and public art amongst other things. We also have to minimise litter, graffiti, fly posting and dog fouling and ensure signage and street furniture is well maintained.

"There is evidence from across the UK which shows that the competition has a positive economic impact as it makes communities more welcoming and increases confidence amongst businesses to invest.

"I would like to thank the very many groups, businesses, schools and organisations that have contributed to making Prestatyn look quite spectacular this season. The ongoing challenge is to ensure that the same kind of discipline is in place to keep the town looking its best throughout the year and the Prestatyn in Bloom committee will continue to work with others to help bring that about.
